The old school look was hard for the younger testers to get used to but all us old guys loved it. The inner leg and butt is made from 600 Denier Kodra material with stretch panels on each leg and the top of the butt. The knees are constructed of 1680 Denier and have plenty of room for braces underneath with thick, ribbed padding on the exterior. The vents channel air over the rider’s upper legs and are placed high enough to allow knee braces underneath without interference. The Air Line System (ALS) consists of large vents on the front of the thighs which provide a low-profile intake scoop. The Classick pant is the most sophisticated part of JT’s line up. No one complained of bunching and the fact that they perform on par with other modern gloves and have twice the cool factor makes them worth the price of admission. The fit was great and every tester commented how comfortable they were. The look is retro and someone made a comment about them everytime we were at the track. Silicone fingertips provide grip on the levers. The palm is double-layered Clarino with an extra patch on the thumb which uses gel padding for extra comfort. A Velcro wrist closure is mated to a Neoprene cuff. They are heavily vented with “dimple-mesh” material making up the majority of the glove. The Life Line have classic moto styling with PVC-based padding. Although they do offer a very minimalist glove the Life Line we tested performed flawlessly. With a bunch of new glove companies coming to the market with a “less is more” approach it is refreshing to see JT go the old school padded glove route. Like other jerseys, a longer tail section with silicone print ensures the back stays tucked inside the pant waist. It wasn’t a bad thing, just something we were not expecting. We did notice that the sizing was on the small side and that after a few turns through the wash, on our pink set anyway, the logo on the chest turned black. The jersey is tapered to eliminate extra fabric through the midsection and so it does not flap around. Light padding in the elbows and shoulders feel like a throw back to the 80’s and we felt they were a nice touch. The retro logo is proudly displayed in the center of the chest. The collar is also vented and the lightweight material helps keep a rider cool and comfortable. JT’s Pro-Tour jersey offers lots of venting through mesh panels in the underarms and down each side of the torso. Obviously the materials and construction techniques are modernized, but the new JT Racing gear looks amazing and we love that they opted to go with the historic styling and reverted back to the original logo. Recently some investors got together and re-launched the company. Innovations in riding gear poured out of the JT factory primarily during the 1970s and ‘80s, but the company eventually faded away from the motocross industry after the turn of the century. Many of the best riders in motocross and off-road racing history wore the SoCal based companies threads. Ride for American Honda and wear JT Racing USA apparel. It is almost as if every up and coming rider had the same dream.
